"Scholars Society" at the Men's High School "St. Cyril's School - 6 November
On November 6, 1889, the "Scholars' Society" at the St. On the occasion of the St. Cyril's Society's annual meeting, a proposal was received "... to donate the Society's library to the municipality of Turnovo to serve as the foundation of a future city public library".
In a meeting of the "Scholars' Society" on 6 November 1889, a proposal was made, signed by 75 members, to donate the society library to the Tarnovo municipality to serve as the basis of a future city public library. After much wrangling (in which the teacher present, Yordan Trifonov, a member of the society, took part, advising the students to keep their library and to obey the principal's request) it was finally decided "by a huge, almost absolute, majority" to donate the entire student library to the town. A nine-member committee was selected to work out the terms of the handover. The committee, along with the board of trustees, began negotiations with the town hall on the matter.
For his part, the principal opposed this decision and did not allow the library to be given away, but the matter was raised by the students several more times and ended with it being decided to give it to the Turnovo Development Society.
In 1889 in V. In 1889 a public library was opened in Veliko Tarnovo, the successor of which is the present RB "Petko R. It is the successor of the library "Tarnovo Slaveykov". The collections of books of the library institution are increasing, judging by the proposal of the "Scholars' Society" at the Men's High School "Sv. St. Cyril's School, following the example of the public libraries established in the other major Bulgarian cities of Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Ruse and Burgas. In its collections there are books with the stamp of the "St. Cyril" High School.
